Top 3 Apps For Equestrians

With the rise of technology and an app for everything, what are the most useful apps for Equestrians? If you’re an Equestrian with a phone, you are probably already an avid Instagram user, so let’s just assume that’s Number One on any list. That being said – I would love to introduce you to a few of my favorites!

1. ALL EARS SELFIE
This will change your life. You may think I’m kidding – but this is a tried and true companion for both amateur and professional horse photographers. Whether you are trying to take the world’s cutest pre-ride-selfie (the original intention of this app) or helping get ears forward for a full-blown photo shoot, this app is about to be your best friend. All Ears Selfie includes a sound board of various Ear-Catching noises from whinnies to crunching carrots and grain shaking, that are guaranteed to get even the grumpiest of ears flicked forward. (Don’t believe me? Just ask the fifteen people whose phones I have forcibly installed this on!) Available on iPhone and Android.

2. EQUILAB
This totally free ride tracking app makes for a super handy digital training journal. The built in GPS feature tracks your ride, and does a pretty handy job of assessing speed and guessing how long you spent in each gait. (Although it’s pretty determined that my gelding’s forward trot is a canter, but I digress.) Much like a running app, it leaves you with a ride diagram, and a space to add training notes for each ride. Riding more than one horse? That’s okay! You can add multiple equines, and keep their rides separated. One of the handiest features of this particular app is the ability to share your location with friends, in case you’re like me and tend to hack out alone frequently. Available on iPhone and Android.

3. SNAPSEED
Okay – this app isn’t just for Equestrians, but it’s my favorite light-but-robust photo editor for getting those quick snaps Instagram ready. Whether you’re just looking to do some light touch ups or heavy editing on the go, you’re hard pressed to find a better free option. Available on iPhone and Android.
